A novel written that focus on Jesus when He was young. I emphasise that it is a frictional novel, written with the imagination of Anne Rice on how Jesus might have lived as a kid between the age of 7 to 12. This isn't like Da Vinci Code, but it is a novel written in the point of view of a Catholic =)
Born as a child, not knowing about His power or the story when He was born, Jesus was like a normal child living among the children in His family and the village that He was living in. Just like any child, He dreamt of nightmare, got hurt in a fight, admire the beauty of our Father's creations. However, He had the power that no other child had, of bringing a child back to life and able to heal the blind man. A child of His age at that time, He has the ability to think and talk like others who are older. He questioned about His birth, why His family members had told Him to be 'careful' with what He prays for, why Joseph and Mary had kept silence about His birth history until He came of age. Story ended when Jesus finally came of age to know the truth about His past. Filled with emotions, Jesus was a human even though He is the Almighty. There is a sequel to the book known as Christ the Lord - The Road to Cana.
A highly recommended novel for Christians and non-Christians. Reading this book has reminded me that although Jesus is God, He came to be human (even though God at the same time) and He knows exactly what it feels to be human. This book has also encouraged me to read up the Gospel again, also to put my imagination into how Jesus was like as a child (which isn't exactly written in the Gospels).
I used to think that even though Jesus came as human, He wouldn't know how it feels to be one as He is God. He must have had been enjoying His time as He would be living as a problem-free human, since He is the Wisdom. This book changed my point of view.
Like I emphasise again, this book isn't the Gospel, but is a good frictional novel written about Jesus Christ. Don't let it become your Bible, for the Truth can only be found in His Words.
You may argue after reading this book that what is written isn't the truth or isn't based on any fact, but I didn't say it is supposed to be the truth? The author didn't say it either =)
Enjoy the reading of the book and let your imagination fly! Pick up your Bible after that and read of His grace and mercy! =D
